Pendennis Castle

Pendennis Castle was one of the strongest fortresses protecting England from invasion. It is in Falmouth and a great tourist attraction for all the family to visit. Henry VIII commissioned the building of this castle, after he divorced Catherine of Aragon because he felt he was under threat of war from Spain and France. Henry VIII was concerned that by divorcing the catholic Catherine an invasion was imminent and reinforced this part of England to defend any such attack.

Pendennis castle had a role to play in World Wars I and II, and was built over 450 years ago. The grounds are spectacular and the castle a formidable fortress. The castle has a history of attacks and you can find out about these on a tour. There great restaurants nearby, and of course, a good souvenir shop.
